Throughout life, our lips work very hard and over time they tend to lose volume and definition. That’s one reason why many individuals turn to lip enhancement to gain a more youthful look. In this blog we’re telling you what to expect from lip enhancement.
Lip enhancement doesn’t just involve making the lips appear fuller, it can also include enhancing the cupid’s bow and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We pride ourselves on creating natural looking lips with high levels of support and aftercare to ensure that clients are happy with the results created.
Why do people have lip enhancements?
- Define the cupid’s bow
- Reduce ‘gummy’ smile
- Increase volume in the lips
- Pull up the corners of the mouth
- Reduce fine lines around the mouth area
I want lip enhancement, what now?
After you’ve decided that you’d like to have lip enhancement treatment, you should find a trustworthy and good quality practitioner to carry out your treatment.
Once you’ve decided on a practitioner to conduct your treatment, you’ll be invited for a consultation to discuss your preferences and the look you would like to achieve. At this point, your practitioner may suggest utilising anti wrinkle injections alongside the dermal fillers to achieve your desired look.
During treatment, a very fine needle is used to inject the filler. This particular filler has a built-in anaesthetic to reduce pain. Most people do not experience pain with this beauty treatment and describe the injection as a small prick.
Results from dermal fillers usually last between 6 and 9 months, where anti wrinkle injections last around 3 to 4 months.
Will I experience side effects?
Results from the treatment will be visible immediately after, however it is likely that you may experience swelling, redness and bruising. These side effects should only last around 2-3 days, so for true results you should ensure this time has passed. If you decide to use anti wrinkle injections within your treatment, these can often take up to 10 days for the true results to be visible.
At Therapy House, we book an appointment 2 weeks after the treatment has been conducted to ensure that each client is happy with the results. A free top up can also be administered during this appointment if necessary.
If you feel worried about any side effects that you experience following your treatment, you can use the 24 hour contact number that we provide after this treatment so you can always gain advice from a practitioner.
What happens after my treatment?
Following your treatment, you should be fine to undertake daily tasks as normal, however due to bruising and swelling, some clients choose to take some time off while side effects calm down. You will receive information regarding the aftercare of your treatment, which you can continue to refer back to.
After the treatment, you are advised not to complete vigorous exercise for 24 hours, avoid touching the area, avoid facial treatments for 2 weeks and try to keep your head in an upright position for at least four hours after the treatment has been conducted.
Our aesthetician, Dawn Attewell, is listed on the Save Face register, a directory of trustworthy aesthetic practitioners, so you can be confident you’re in safe hands.
