What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves using a special device to promote your body’s natural ability to repair skin cells. The small device enhances the natural ability of the skin’s healing process to stimulate collagen production.
Elastin and collagen are proteins that work together to strengthen the skin while allowing it to be flexible at the same time. As we get older, our bodies lose collagen and produce less of it, which can lead to a lack of skin elasticity and sagging skin. Skin needling can help to combat this and encourage more collagen.
How does microneedling work?
Microneedling works by creating tiny holes, known as micro-injuries, on the skin. These areas are so small that the skin heals and closes again within minutes. This is done using many microneedles in a microneedling device.
There are many microneedling devices on the market, we use the Dermapen. The Dermapen techniques will be altered based on the area of your face that is being targeted at one time.
A microneedling treatment typically only takes around 30 minutes. It is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure, making it extremely popular in the beauty industry.
What are the benefits of microneedling?
There are many benefits to a microneedling treatment. It can help to treat skin concerns, such as:

Does microneedling hurt?
Microneedling might sound like a daunting procedure; however, it’s absolutely not. When having the treatment, you shouldn’t be in pain. Instead, you may experience some discomfort.
The tiny needles used do not go deep into the skin. In some areas, such as the cheeks, the device will need to penetrate deeper to increase collagen levels. This should still not cause you pain.
When will I see micro-needling results?
The results of your microneedling treatment won’t be visible right away. Instead, you’ll start seeing a difference in your skin around 1 week after the treatment.
How long do microneedling results last?
One great element of microneedling is that the results are long-lasting. If you plan to have the treatment a couple of times a year, you will maintain the skin’s gorgeous new glow.

Microneedling aftercare

Microneedling requires very little downtime, so you should be able to continue as normal. However, you may wish to take time off if you experience side effects.

Microneedling in a clinic vs home treatments
There are many devices on the market that claim to offer the same results as a microneedling procedure. These devices do not offer the same level of treatment and cannot perform microneedling to the same standard as a clinic and professional microneedling devices.
