What is Dermaroller™?
Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy provides advanced micro-medical skin-needling; a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely; creating smoother, brighter, healthier and younger-looking skin. It can significantly improve the appearance of:
• Acne scars
• Aged and sun-damaged skin
• Facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles
• Stretch marks
• Cellulite
• Pigmentation
For the treatment of scars we would also recommend Dermastamp™ is used to target isolated areas of the skin.
What products do you use?
At Therapy House we only use Genuine Dermaroller™ products.
Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy uses sterile single-use medical devices where quality and safety are guaranteed. It is only available from trained medical practitioners and authorised clinics.
Please be aware of cheap imitations and unregistered clinics or salons offering similar treatment.
What does the treatment involve?
First of all, our Clinical Director will apply a topical anaesthetic to numb your skin, which takes about 30 minutes. Then for the procedure itself, which takes a further 20-30 minutes, she will use a Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device to create thousands of micro-medical needle-columns in your facial skin. The columns will be about 0.1mm wide, and close rapidly so that the skin recovers very quickly – often the same day.
Afterwards, your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. It can be up to six weeks before improvement is visible, as it takes time to form new collagen, generate new skin cells and enhance blood supply.
How long does the procedure take?
A single treatment usually takes around 1 hour.
How long do the effects last?
The results for stretch marks, acne scars and trauma scars are permanent. For skin rejuvenation it is really dependent on the rate at which your skin ages. Dermaroller acts by stimulating your own collagen but this will diminish again as you age.
However, results are generally long-lasting (from 6 months up to a year or two) and we usually recommend annual or bi-annual ‘top-up’ treatments.
Are there any side effects?
Immediately after your Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy you will look as though you have moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This will start to subside after 1 to 2 hours and will normally recover within the same day with only slight redness the following day.
Your practitioner will apply cream after the procedure to help soothe and calm the skin. You should continue to use this until the redness has cleared.
You will be instructed to use tepid water to cleanse the face for the following 48 hours and dry gently, always making sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area. It is recommended that make up is not applied for 12 hours after the procedure.
In the days following your Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy as the skin starts to regenerate and repair it may well feel drier than normal and you will be provided with specialist creams to use for up to two weeks before and after treatment to protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays.

Do I need to use special creams after treatment?
Once the redness has cleared after a Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ procedure, it is important that the skin is cared for on an ongoing daily basis with an effective anti-ageing regime. An effective regime will typically use dermo-cosmetic products to:
Genuine Dermaroller™ home meso-rejuvenation treatment uses the home-use C8 Dermaroller.™ Used 2 to 3 times a week at home under the direction of your aesthetic practitioner, it will stimulate the epidermis and enhance the penetration of specific skin products, improving your anti-ageing skincare and your goal of younger and healthier looking skin.

Is there anything else I need to know?
Depending on your skin, our Clinical Director will recommend 2-3 procedures with around 6 weeks between them. You may need more to improve acne scars and other types of scarring.
