What is Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage, has evolved from the traditional Indian Ayurvedic art of Champi.
Today, treatment includes massage on the head, neck, upper back, shoulders and arms in order to rebalance the body’s vital energy. It can be particularly beneficial in alleviating stress, tension, headaches and fatigue.
What does the treatment involve?
An Indian head massage usually lasts around 30-45 minutes. You’ll be invited to take a seat and relax on a low-backed chair so that our practitioner will have the right massage accessibility. You can choose to have a treatment involving oils, in which case upper clothing can be removed and a large soft towel will be draped round for warmth and protection. If no oil is preferred, you may remain fully clothed; ideally in a lightweight t-shirt.
Why should I have an Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage is ideal to treat neck or shoulder tension.
The massage starts on the back and neck working deeply on the muscles and pressure points that help the muscles to relax. The therapist will then move on to massage the scalp area. The whole scalp is massaged to encourage circulation, oxygen and nutrients to the area.
The treatment ends with a soothing face massage including pressure points and draining techniques to help ease headaches and relieve sinus problems.
What should I do after my massage?
To gain maximum benefit from your Indian Head Massage treatment, try to rest afterwards as this helps your body’s natural healing process.
